Austrian Work Permit

Citizens of non-EU countries may apply three different forms of work permits in Austria.

-Restricted work permit for one year.

-Work permit for two years.

-Unrestricted work permit for five years.

In order to obtain an Austrian work visa and thereafter, the work permit the applicant shall be employed by an employer in Austria. The Austrian employer must have advertised the job vacancy and if no Austrian citizens or residents would have been employed within approximately 3 months, then the employer has to advertise the job for another 3 months and in case within this period no EU citizens have applied or been chosen for the job, then the employer is allowed to employ non-EU nationals. After the abovementioned conditions are fulfilled the employer shall send an employment invitation for the applicant and therefrom, the applicant is eligible to apply for a work visa.
